Suits you, sir ... David Beckham looks dapper and tops sexiest suit wearer poll
DAVID Beckham has been voted the world’s sexiest man in a suit.
The former England star and father-of-four beat a host of other tailored gents to claim the accolade.
Runner-up was Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney, followed by Bond actor Daniel Craig.
In fourth and fifth place were Take That frontman Gary Barlow and Hugh Grant respectively.
The poll of 2,000 people was conducted by Austin Reed to mark the launch of their Suit Swap campaign with the mental health charity Mind.
Brits are being encouraged to donate old suits to the charity in return for £50 towards a new Austin Reed suit.
Tailored to please ... Daniel Craig is third and George Clooney in second place on the poll
A spokesman said: “Undoubtedly David Beckham is one of the most stylish men to grace the planet.
“His allure is that he can pull off the casual scruffy look but transforms himself in to a dashing gent when he dons a sharp suit.
The survey found that Formula 1 driver Jenson Button made it in sixth place as the best dressed suit wearer closely followed by Princes Harry and William.
Button’s team mate Lewis Hamilton was in ninth place followed by lovelorn Twilight actor Robert Pattinson.
British style ... Hugh Grant claims fifth place and Gary Barlow came in fourth
Other men to carry off a good suit were named as X Factor host Dermot O’Leary, TOWIE heartthrob Mark Wright and Little Britain star David Walliams.
Despite being known for his high waistbands Simon Cowell completed the poll in 20th place as the celebrity who looks best in a suit.
The man who looks worst in a suit was voted as Jeremy Clarkson, followed by Russell Brand.
As a plus, she isn't talking about Rupert Sanders. As a minus, she's still talking about her director in a way that we're not sure Robert Pattinson would like very much
"
We don't want to make a "that's what he/she said" joke here. We're not five-years-old or Steve Carrell's character in The Office. But we will say that Kristen Stewart's latest interview about her latest film, On The Road, had quite a lot of innuendo in it. Which we're completely certain was unintentional. But which we're also completely certain is hilarious.
'You can do no wrong with him," Kristen said, when asked about the film's director, 56-year-old Walter Salles. "He puts so much inside of you. In the four-week rehearsal process, it was okay to ask any question, to bring up any story, to really over-analyze everything and intellectualize everything."
And Kristen was so comfortable on the set, she admits that she didn't mind taking her clothes off in front of everybody on the set of the film. Even though it's a pretty big step up from her roles in Twilight and Snow White and the Huntsman.
"Once we got on set, it was so about just breathing and letting it happen," she explained. "[Walter] put so much trust in us, so it was like, "Okay, so I have to take my clothes off?" It's so not a big [deal]."
"[Being topless] didn't bother me."
Robert Pattinson might secretly watch Kristen's topl ess scenes and cry
We're not sure whether it bothered then-boyfriend Robert Pattinson, but considering the fact that he was taking all of his clothes off for Cosmopolis at pretty much the same time that On The Road was being filmed, he really doesn't have much of a leg to stand on if he did want to pull jealous scowly faces.
Especially when he's had plenty of other reasons to do that this summer.
And while we're not sure whether Kristen and Rob are back together or whether they everreally split up in the first place, or whether they're only communicating with each other through messages sent via Taylor Lautner and spoken in Pigs Latin, we're pretty sure of one thing:
Liberty Ross is not going to be letting Rupert Sanders watch this film.
Could ostrich feathers be the hot trend for fall and winter?
Judging from W magazine's latest cover girl, you'd think that there were no other options in the world, other than plumes from head-to-toe.
Not that we're complaining. Jennifer Lawrenceis being hailed as the next great movie star, and you don't earn a title like that by being anything other than a total chameleon.
BOND bosses are being more secretive than MI6 over who will sing over the closing credits of the latest 007 flick Skyfall.
But Adele is definitely the front-runner for the gig. She visited Abbey Road studios earlier this month, where the soundtrack is being put together.
She first hinted that she’d been offered the 007 spot in a chat with Jonathan Ross last year.
Soon after that Adele started preliminary sessions with producer Paul Epworth.
Her visit to the historic Abbey Road facilities suggests she’s been recording with Thomas Newman, the man director Sam Mendes has hired to take charge of the Bond music.
Thomas, who has worked on movies including The Shawshank Redemption and Wall-E, has been holed up at the London studios all month working on the score for the film, which hits cinemas next month.
It will be interesting to see what he and Adele come up with.
In one year, these lads have sold 12m records and earned £40m to become the biggest boyband on the planet... not bad for X Factor losers
They have sold 12 million records, scooped awards, entertained at the Olympics and made such an impact in the US they’re being hailed as bigger than the Beatles.
Not a bad year for a group of X Factor rejects. Last September Harry, Niall, Zayn, Liam and Louis probably wondered which One Direction their career was going in – up or down.
They got a big buzz from the release of their debut single, spending the day flying round the UK by helicopter to sign copies of What Makes You Beautiful at HMV stores.
For the first time in their lives they felt like real pop stars – and the hysterical fans that turned out to scream their adoration left them delighted, if slightly bemused.
“We know we are living the dream,” admitted former choirboy Niall Horan, then 17, “but I don’t know if it will ever sink in.”
Winners: Best British Single at this year's Brits
Exactly 12 months on, One Direction are living a life beyond their wildest dreams.
On their first trip across the pond in March they were mobbed by American fans in scenes reminiscent of Beatlemania and were invited to the White House by President Obama’s smitten wife Michelle.
The band have also won themselves an impressive list of celebrity fans, including Katy Perry, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and the Obamas. Katy, Taylor Swift and Selina Gomez were spotted dancing in the aisles when the band performed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in America, along with the First Lady and her daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10.
In the past week alone they’ve picked up three gongs at the MTV Video Music Awards, signed a multi-million dollar deal to be the new faces of Pepsi and decided they don’t really need a duet with Justin Bieber to boost sales of their upcoming second album.
After all, the single’s doing well enough...
Live While We’re Young, out at the end of the month, has become the fastest-selling pre-order single in history – topping the charts in 40 countries including the UK, Australia, France, Spain and Brazil.
So, is it sinking in yet, Niall?
It’s hard to believe that One Direction is actually a collection of X Factor flops.
Harry, now 18, Zayn, 19, Louis, 20, Liam, 19, and Niall weren’t good enough to make the cut as solo singers but were given a second chance as a group.
Even after that, they trailed in a distant third in the public vote, behind Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson.
So just how could One Direction – or 1D to their adoring Directioners – conquer the world so quickly?
The answer – apart from the fact they do actually have real talent – is the man they call Mr Growl, a shrewd marketing strategy and by harnessing the power of social networking like never before.
Simon Cowell spotted the real winners long before the X Factor final and handed them a £2million contract within days.
Tim Byrne, creative director of his record company Syco, moulded and polished 1D as a group during the show but work began in earnest when they were flown straight to Los Angeles to record with a top producer.
During the X Factor tour, their management team were busily commissioning some of the world’s best songwriters to prepare material for the first 1D album.
Top track: Performing at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony
The group’s first single shot to number one on the UK chart last September and in February it debuted at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
Sonny Takhar, Simon Cowell’s right-hand man and MD of Syco Music masterminded the next stage, exploiting social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr.
It allowed the boys to communicate directly with teenage fans and their popularity spread like wildfire. The group currently has more than six million followers on Twitter collectively. Each member has a similar number individually, because, as with all boybands, girl fans like to pick their favourite.
Social networking allowed 1D to shortcut the months of slog around local radio stations that unknown bands normally face when trying to break America.
They drew 10,000 fans by word of mouth to their performance on the Today show in New York in March and the buzz has earned them further appearances on the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice awards and Saturday Night Live.
Heart condition: Young fans in Australia wait for their heroes
Liam, 18, to the Daily Mirror earlier this year: “Our tour manager told us it would take three years of hard graft to do well in America, so for it to have taken off as it has is incredible.
“Twitter has been a major factor in getting our name out there. Just as Twitter has gone up, so we have, too. They’ve gone hand in hand.
“And, picture-wise, Tumblr has helped us a lot. It has really accelerated our success.”
Niall added: “If you ask American fans where they found out about us it’s always Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook... it’s the most powerful thing we have.”
And the boys’ record label chief Takhar declared: “Social media has become the new radio – it has never broken an act globally like this before.”
1D’s first album, Up All Night, topped the charts in 16 countries. The group holds a Guinness World Record as the first British group in history to reach number one in America with a debut album, which sold 176,000 copies in the US in a single week.
Mobbed: Wherever they go, the boys are followed by Directioners
Syco hired ad agencies to help market 1D as a brand.
They are never dressed in matching outfits or given cheesy dance routines because their stylists are under orders to retain their individuality. Yet independence is only encouraged up to a point and their personal relationships are carefully managed.
When TV presenter Caroline Flack, 32, briefly dated Harry, the relationship led to death threats from jealous fans.
Since then the band have been instructed to keep their relationships strictly under wraps.
They have also been ordered to tone down their partying after a boozy appearance at the Brits.
But the marketing strategy got the money pouring in. There have been three 1D books, published by HarperCollins, two of which went straight to the top of the bestsellers lists and the biggest selling calendar of all time.
Crowd control: Huge screen show the lads
The group became brand ambassadors for Pokemon, launched two exclusive One Direction phones for Nokia and have a new range of toys and games out soon.
They have been nominated for 36 music awards and won an incredible 18 of them.
At the end of this month they will be releasing their new single, Live While We’re Young, and the album, Take Me Home, will be following a short time later in November.
In December the band will headline at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden before embarking on their second World Tour next February.
So far they have 101 shows in the UK, Ireland, North America and Australasia planned.
Fans: Girls hold up banners at a One Direction concert
Ticket sales here reached 300,000 within a day of release including a sell-out six dates on the trot at the O2 Arena.
In North America, the group will be putting on additional shows due to “overwhelming demand” and in Australia and New Zealand tickets worth £10million have been sold.
One Direction will jet around the globe in private planes to sing for millions of adoring fans.
A year ago it was a chopper tour to three HMV stores. What an incredible journey!
Sequel ... Channing Tatum wants to direct Magic Mike 2
MAGIC Mike star Channing Tatum is in the running to direct a sequel to the male stripper film.
The hunky actor, 32 — who played the title character — said director Steven Soderberg “wants to retire”.
He insisted he is open to leading the project himself with co-writer Reid Carolin and said Steven’s assistant director Gregory Jacobs could also take on the role.
Tatum said of making Magic Mike 2: “We really want to [make it], but Steven Soderbergh really wants to retire.
“We will undoubtedly make the Broadway version first.
“Gregory Jacobs can make the film, or we can make it, Reid Carolin and me. But we do not know.”
Eye candy ... Channing Tatum as Mike in male stripper film
Channing and Reid — who co-produced Magic Mike, which also stars Alex Pettyfer, Olivia Munn and Matthew McConaughey — have already got a “ridiculous and fun” story in mind for the sequel, but neither are 100 per cent sure whether the motion picture will go into production.
Reid said: “You know, we are talking a lot about it. We have a story, and it is really ridiculous and fun.
“It’s a road movie sort of thing, where a bunch of strippers get back together.
“It’s more of a broad comedy. I don’t know whether it will happen or not.”
Broadway night out ... Jennifer Lopez with Casper Smart
JENNIFER Lopez showed you don’t have to expose cleavage to look smoking.
The singer, 43, displayed her curves in a tight-fitting and high-necked leather dress that made her look rock chick and elegant at the same time.
She paired the dress with some dark red lippy, a black clutch bag and black pointed heels.
The Jenny From The Block star stepped out with toyboy Casper Smart to support her pal Ricky Martin in a musical.
Smart looked casual compared to his girlfriend, wearing a black jumper with grey jeans.
Demure but sexy ... high-necked leather dress is smoking
The pair were in New York to see Martin starring as Che in the Broadway version of Evita.
The singer said earlier this year of playing the role that it was “the most amazing opportunity I’ve had in the last 15 years”.
He added: “To be able to come to New York and be surrounded by the Broadway community again and to be surrounded by such an amazing cast, it just doesn’t get better.
